The kitchen at Gjestestuene is run by TG Selskapsmat. Please contact the kitchen directly to order food and drinks.

Flexible wedding menu
The bride and groom can put together their own wedding menu from the kitchen's selection of wedding food and drinks.
Many choose simple finger food for the welcome drink, a full dinner with wedding cake and plenty of drinks tailored to the menu. Some also want a late-night snack – such as sausage and lompe – after a few hours on the dance floor.

TG Selskapsmat offers two standard wedding packages that provide a comprehensive celebration and a good overview of the costs. It is also possible to tailor the menu in collaboration with the kitchen.

Do you want a wedding venue?
Wedding in the Stave Church
At Gjestestuene you have the opportunity to rent the Stave Church for a wedding. After the wedding, it is only a few steps back to Gjestestuene. This makes the logistics extra easy for you and your guests.
We also use an old Swiss-style gallery for weddings if the bride and groom prefer a civil ceremony. The open-air museum and our green outdoor areas provide beautiful settings for post-wedding photography.
Wedding ceremony in Gallery Gamle Landbruk
The wedding venue, Galleri Gamle Landbruk, is large and airy, with double-height ceilings. There is room for 120 seated guests and several more standing. In the gallery inside the room, musicians can sing for the guests, and the wedding photographer can follow the ceremony closely without being in the way.
The Swiss-style building dates from 1894 and was built on what was then Bygdø Kongsgård to house an exhibition of old agricultural implements. The venerable organization Norges Vel was responsible for the construction, which is made in the machine-built Swiss style, with elements in the dragon style. The architect was Albert Waldemar Hansteen, who was a highly respected architect in his time. The name Gamle Landbruk dates from this time.
The building has been used both as a theater and for fashion shows. But in recent years, it is love and the solemn vow of marriage that have taken center stage at Galleri Gamle Landbruk.
Winter weddings are a great fit at Gamle Landbruk, but the building is not insulated. If it is cold outside, it can feel a bit chilly in winter.
Wedding photography
The guest rooms have a great setting for wedding photography. You get a romantic idyll and atmospheric old buildings to play with!
The guest rooms at the Norwegian Folk Museum have perfect surroundings for a wedding celebration. In the pictures on this page you can see what the photographer can capture in the photo lens when a wedding is arranged at the guest rooms on a beautiful summer day. There is an infinity of beautiful surroundings to choose from, and you don't have to choose a barn and a ski shed if you would rather have a slightly different expression. There are colors, nature, idyll, architecture and romance in beautiful union. Backgrounds that are perfect for wedding photography.

Guided tour & folk dance
TourDid you know that you can book a tour as an additional activity when you book a function room with us? Our tours can be booked all year round and we can accommodate multiple groups at the same time. Groups run parallel to each other and end at the same time.
Folk dance
Folk dance performances at Gjestestuene are always popular. We are happy to help you arrange a folk dance performance. We can also arrange folk dance courses that bring your guests together in a fun activity. We will tailor a program to suit your party at Gjestestuene - contact the Dance Group and we will arrange it!

Please contact us by email, form or phone and we will be happy to provide more information about how we can facilitate your event. Viewings by appointment, preferably on weekdays between 9 am and 4 pm.
How far in advance should you book a wedding venue?
It depends on the party you are hosting. For weddings, confirmations and Christmas parties, it is a good idea to book as early as possible, preferably a year in advance. Generally, Saturdays are the most popular event date, followed by Fridays. Sundays and Thursdays are also popular. Weekdays are not as popular.
See our cancellation policies for different deadlines for different events.
For example, if you cancel less than nine months before a wedding, you will be invoiced for half the rental fee. This is because it is difficult to resell the same date.
What is included in a wedding at Gjestestuene?
When you rent Gjestestuene for a wedding, you get access to a historic and atmospheric wedding venue with beautiful outdoor areas. The rental applies to the venue itself. Food and drinks are provided by an external partner (see separate section below).
Who will arrange the food and drinks for the wedding?
When you rent the Guest Rooms for a wedding, we connect you with our permanent kitchen, TG Selskapsmat. They will help you choose a wedding menu, wedding packages and drinks.
Can we customize the wedding menu?
Yes. In addition to standard wedding packages, you can put together your own wedding menu from the kitchen's selection of food and drinks. This is agreed directly with TG Selskapsmat.
Can we have a welcome drink and dinner?
Yes. Many people choose simple servings for the welcome drink, as well as a nightcap later in the evening – for example sausage and lompe. This is agreed directly with the kitchen when you plan the wedding menu.
How long can the wedding party last?
Wedding packages are designed for events of up to 9 hours. If you would like a longer wedding party, this can be arranged for an additional fee for catering staff. Guest rooms close at 2:00 AM.
How do you do it with drinks at the bar later in the evening?
There are different ways to organize drinks at the bar. You can let the guests pay for drinks at the bar themselves. The host can be responsible for all drinks, which are then invoiced according to consumption. We have an average of two drinks per guest at various types of parties. You can also arrange a voucher system with the kitchen.
Can we hold the wedding ceremony on site?
Yes. Many people choose to have their wedding ceremony near the Guest Houses, for example in the Stave Church at the Norwegian Folk Museum or Galleri Gamle Landbruk. This provides a holistic setting for the wedding day.
Can you get married in the stave church if you don't have the party at the Guest Houses?
No, the stave church can only be used if the party is held at the Guest Rooms.
Is the area suitable for wedding photography?
Yes! The guest rooms are located in historic surroundings with beautiful buildings and green outdoor areas that provide great settings for wedding photos.
How do we book a viewing of the wedding venue?
