A little history
Sæterhytten began its history in 1851, as a royal bathhouse at Oscarshall beach. Here the building was floating on a barge at the very end of Frognerkilen, but it was not used much, and it was demanding to maintain. Therefore, in 1862 the building was moved up to Dronningberget, where it still stands. Dronningberget at the very end of Frognerkilen was a popular place to go out with a great view towards Oslo.
Since the early 19th century, students and other citizens had held summer outings and parties here. The royal family also used the place on special occasions and at the opening in 1862, three royal personalities were there, all with the name Louise. This is the background to the beautiful monogram on the gable of the house with three times the letter L.
