MORE ABOUT THE WEDDING

Wedding ceremony in Gallery Gamle Landbruk

When you rent the Guest Rooms for your wedding party, you have a fantastic opportunity to hold the actual wedding ceremony at the Norwegian Folk Museum. Choose between the Stave Church and the Old Agricultural Gallery.

Are you dreaming of a grand wedding?

This can become a reality at the Norwegian Folk Museum! All summer long we are hosting wedding parties at the Guest Rooms and many of our brides and grooms would like to have a formal ceremony in a beautiful venue nearby. The wedding venue, Galleri Gamle Landbruk, is large and airy with double-height ceilings. There is room for 120 seated guests and several standing. In the gallery inside the room, musicians can sing for the guests, and the wedding photographer can follow the ceremony closely without being in the way.

The Swiss-style building dates from 1894 and was built on what was then Bygdø Kongsgård to house an exhibition of old agricultural implements. The venerable organization Norges Vel was responsible for the construction, which is made in the machine-built Swiss style, with elements in the dragon style. The architect was Albert Waldemar Hansteen, who was a highly respected architect in his time. The name Gamle Landbruk dates from this time.

The building has been used both as a theater and for fashion shows. But in recent years, it is love and the solemn vow of marriage that have taken center stage at Galleri Gamle Landbruk.

Winter weddings are a great fit at Gamle Landbruk, but the building is not insulated. If it is cold outside, it can feel a bit chilly in winter.

Et par står sammen på et rødt teppe i en storslått hall med trepanel, høyt under taket og en mezzanin-balkong.
To trestoler flankerer et lite bord med en hvit duk, et blomsterarrangement, et kors og et stearinlys i et rustikt rom.
