Terms and conditions at the Norwegian Maritime Museum

Here you will find all the practical details when renting premises at NMM.

Our conditions

Booking of premises

To register your booking for the venue, we need your name, email, telephone number, address, postal code and city.

When ordering from companies, we need an organization number.

Opening hours

We are closed for rentals in July, and on public holidays.

Payment

The invoice is sent after the event has taken place, except for Weddings where half the rental amount is paid as an advance payment. The venue is booked when you receive an order confirmation from us. Exception for foreign invoice addresses where the rental price must be paid in advance.

For companies, invoices are sent as EHF.

Included in the rent

The rental price includes rigging, white damask tablecloths, white damask napkins, tealight holders with electric tealights and access to technical equipment such as a projector and Soundbox in the venue. The venue is cleaned by the museum after the event.

Decorations and equipment

It is not permitted to attach decorations to walls or ceilings, or to move museum objects in the premises. It is also not permitted to use confetti cannons, smoke machines or candles. The tenant is responsible for any damage to buildings or interiors, and the amount of compensation will be assessed based on the extent of the damage.

The tenant has access to the premises from the time the museum opens on the actual event date, and can then come to decorate. All decorations brought along must be packed up at the end of the evening. This can be stored and picked up by arrangement. It is also possible to deliver decorations in advance so that they are stored at the museum before the event date.

Please note that FoodOccasion sets the tables, and that table decoration with, for example, flowers and place cards can be arranged with FoodOccasion in advance, so that they place this on the tables when the tables are set.

Additional services

Floral decorations are not included, but can be arranged through our partner or your own external supplier. All catering, food and drinks must be ordered through our supplier.

Alcohol serving and bar solutions

No drinks are allowed. All alcohol must be ordered through our partner. The host can either cover all drinks and be invoiced, or let the guests pay themselves. It is also possible to combine these solutions, e.g. with vouchers and then card payment.

Facilitation

The venue is wheelchair accessible, and menus can be adapted for allergy sufferers by arrangement.

Transportation and parking

The museum is located in Bygdøynes, with easy access by bus, car or bicycle. There are municipal parking spaces in the area, as well as street parking, and there is a ferry to Bygdøynes between March and October. For more information, prices and departure times, see the websites of Båtservice Sightseeing AS and Ruter.

Weddings and alcohol-free catering

For smaller weddings, there is a minimum number of 40 people, and for alcohol-free weddings, this must be agreed in advance with our supplier.

Is it possible to rent a boat, or bring your own boat?

It is possible to rent a boat through Norway Yacht Charter AS, they can be contacted about renting a boat.

Norway Yacht Charter AS has a fixed port of call and berth at the quay facility at Bygdøynes.

The quay facility at Bygdøynes is owned and operated by the Port of Oslo, so you must contact the Port of Oslo if you wish to dock with your own boat.
