Baptism celebration on Bygdøy

The guest rooms at the Norwegian Folk Museum provide a warm and pleasant setting for baptisms and naming ceremonies. Here you can gather family and friends for a personal celebration in historic and atmospheric surroundings. We provide a memorable day for both young and old.

The guest rooms at the Norwegian Folk Museum are perfect for celebrating baptisms and name days. We have two small baptism rooms on the first floor for celebrations for between 20 and 30 guests. You can choose between Østerdalsstua and Folkestuen. If you have more than 30 guests, you are welcome to rent the beautiful Festsalen on the second floor.

During the summer season you can also rent the Sæterhytten cabin on Dronningberget, which is located one kilometer away from the Guest Houses.

Slices, salad or a three-course meal?

Many people choose to serve a slicing menu with cake for baptisms and name day celebrations. It is popular, as a baptism celebration usually lasts no more than around 3 hours.

Regardless, we believe you will be satisfied with our good service and the delicious food from TG Selskapsmat. This is evidenced by all the nice feedback we receive from our guests!

Free parking

We have free parking for about 20 cars and the Kongsgården bus stop is about 200 meters away. Bus 30 Bygdøy takes about 10 - 15 minutes from the city center.

How about making the day extra special?

We can give your guests a taste of Norwegian history, dance and culture. The Norwegian Folk Museum is an oasis in the capital, designed for entertainment with cultural history and experience in the city center. We are happy to convey exciting customs and stories from the past, and in addition we can give your guests the sound of traditional music from far back in time.
