Gjestestuene at Norsk Folkemuseum

Located at the Norsk Folkemuseum, with a 12th-century stave church as our closest neighbour, Gjestestuene offers a truly unique setting for unforgettable celebrations.



We host events, meetings, and conferences for 20 to 120 guests, surrounded by tall pine trees and stunning views across the museum grounds at idyllic Bygdøy.

When you hire Gjestestuene, you also gain access to beautiful outdoor areas with benches and tables, a champagne pavilion, and a flagpole - plus free parking for approximately 20 cars. Guests also receive free admission to the Norsk Folkemuseum on the same day.

Choose between four charming historic rooms, or rent the entire house for larger celebrations and weddings.

For a truly exclusive event, we recommend hiring the entire house. The Banquet Hall on the second floor can seat up to 120 guests in one room, and you will also have access to three additional historic rooms-ideal for different parts of your celebration.



AV equipment and two sound systems are included free of charge. In summer, the event flows seamlessly into our spacious green courtyard with garden furniture and a charming champagne pavilion.

The Banquet Hall (Festsalen) is a spacious, bright, and romantic room overlooking the cultural landscape of the Norsk Folkemuseum—an ideal setting for life’s most special occasions. The hall is located on the second floor, while the cosy Blue Fireplace Lounge is just a few steps below on the mezzanine level.

The Banquet Hall can seat up to 120 guests in one room. However, when renting only the Banquet Hall and the Blue Fireplace Lounge, the most common guest range is 30–70 guests. For larger gatherings, we recommend hiring the entire house.

AV equipment and a high-quality sound system are included free of charge.

In Folkestuen and Østerdalsstua, you’ll find a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with an open fireplace in both rooms. During the summer season, the rooms offer direct access to our lush green courtyard.

For private events, Østerdalsstua is typically used for welcome drinks and mingling, while Folkestuen is perfect for lunch or dinner. For meetings and conferences, Folkestuen is usually used as the main meeting room, with Østerdalsstua reserved for lunch service and breaks.

Folkestuen is equipped with AV facilities and a sound system. For groups of around 20 guests, it is also possible to rent Folkestuen only.

Hold your ceremony in one of our magical wedding venues! When celebrating at Gjestestuene, you can choose between two romantic ceremony locations: Galleri Gamle landbruk or the Stave Church.

Upon request, we can occasionally also accommodate baptism celebrations.
